Year 10 Rugby

Walkden High School's Year 10 defeated Buile Hill in the Salford School's Championship final played at the Willows on Wednesday 19th May. After falling behing 10-0 early in the game, Walkden responded with two quick tries from Louis Cooke and Tom Pratt, both converted by Dion Rothwell. A third Buile Hill try meant Walkden trailed 16-12 at half time. A strong start to the second half saw the boys regain the lead thanks to Dion Rothwell's try and conversion. Rothwell then turned provider as his crossfield kick was juggled by Jamie Bartlett who crossed to extend the lead to 22-16. The same duo combined to take Walkden further ahead, and aftersurviving a spell of Buile Hill possession, the boys sealed victory when Jordan Wilson dived over twice in the final minutes. A fifth conversion by Rothwell gave Walkden a convincing 38-16 victory.

This was a fantastic effort from the lad, and just rewards for their efforts throughout the season, in which they have remained unbeaten.
