Textile Technology
The students will design and make textile products, using a variety of materials and processes. Problems will be set which encourage research and analytical skills, followed by ideas and a proposed final design. A range of practical skills will then be used to make a garment or product from the chosen textiles.
The coursework project consists of a single design and make activity selected from a range of exam board set tasks. The areas of study may include garments, accessories, furnishings etc.
The examination tests the students’ knowledge of fibres and fabrics, design and research skills, industrial processes, use of ICT and social, moral and environmental issues.
