Resistant Materials
The students will design and make products through the use of wood, metal or plastics. Problems will be set which encourage research and analytical skills, followed by ideas and a proposed final design. A range of practical processes will then be used to make the product in a workshop.
The coursework project consists of a single design and make project of the students own choice. The areas of study may include furniture design, product design, toy design etc.
The written examination tests the students’ knowledge of materials, tools, processes, design work use of ICT, social, moral and cultural issues.
