The Course

Today we live in a world where we are ‘Technologically reliant’ therefore it is vitally important that we equip our young people to cope with this. It is our aim in ICT to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding for them to survive and flourish in Further Education and /or the work place.

The new and exciting qualifications being offered by OCR aim to do precisely this.

They accredit students’ abilities to carry out a range of tasks and have been designed to accredit students’ achievements in a modern, practical way that is relevant to the workplace.

All students will complete a mandatory unit – ICT Skills in Business. The most able students will be directed to completing the National Award in ICT at the higher grades, whilst all other students will be directed to completing the National Certificate in ICT at Pass grades.

All students will complete a selection of the following units:

Creating Sound

Creating Video

Creating Animation

DTP

Creating Computer Graphics

Multimedia products

Webpage creation

Spreadsheets

Assessment

Assessment for all units is by coursework – there is NO FINAL EXAMINATION. If any student falls behind with any unit they will be expected to attend out of lesson sessions either at lunch time or after school.
