March 2010 Examinations

Parents, Carers and Pupils should check the March examinations timetable which is published on this website. The timetable shows important external examinations for Year 11 and Year 10. These are:

GCSE Maths Modular tests for all Year 10 apart from Mr. Pawlik’s Set 1.

GCSE Science Modular Tests for all Year 10 apart from those sets doing Btec Science. Year 10 will be taking the Biology, Chemistry and Physics 1A papers. Some Year 11 pupils will be taking the 1B papers in these subjects.

Some Year 11 pupils involved in the Diploma Creative & Media will be re-sitting their Functional Skills tests. The FS Maths paper is on 10th March. The FS English & ICT tests will be timetabled during the week 1st – 5th March and 8th – 12th March respectively. The actual day has to be finalised.

Between 1st and 9th March a small number of Year 11 who follow the Asset Languages course in French will have their next test.

All the candidates involved will be issued with an individual timetable after half-term.

Summer 2010 Examination Entries: Important information to parents/carers

Parents/carers and pupils will soon receive important information about examination entries for this summer. This material will be given to Year 11 before the end of half-term and the replies (two yellow sheets that need to be completed and signed by the parent/carer) should be returned to school from Monday 22nd February to allow the school to make the necessary amendments.

Important Study Leave Information

Dear Parent / Carer,

As the examination season approaches it has been agreed to suspend the Year 11 timetable from Thursday 13th May in order to maximise the opportunity for pupils to prepare thoroughly for the external examinations. However, many subject teachers have already requested to continue to see their students in pre-arranged lessons after that date and it is essential that people turn up to scheduled lessons where staff require attendance.
