Standish Community High School Visit
Some of our Gifted and Talented students were selected to take part in a visit to Standish Community High School.
Pupils worked on the European High Street where they were issued with a bag, a passport and a role play card, which they followed as they visited the various shops asking for various items on their shopping lists. This enabled students to boost their confidence in speaking their target language. All students shopping on the street obtained fake Euros from the bank to shop with. Halfway through the activity students were asked to sit down to write their postcard in the mock cafe before continuing around the street.
The students were also given the change to use new technology called Qwizdom. This is an interactive quiz system where the students compete against each other to answer the question as quickly as possible. Pupils were very enthusiastic about Qwizdom and felt that it was a valuable learning tool for the classroom. Walkden High has now puchased a Qwizdom classroom set for student use in various subjects.
